I enjoy reading and writing about a range of literature, with Milton’s epics and the Brontë sisters’ novels being my favorites. Over the past three years of film studies, I have also become interested in exploring different cinemas and the socio-cultural discourses they contribute to. Outside of academic pursuits, I experiment with creative writings such as short stories and poems, and I have worked on a few freelance translation assignments. The English language has helped me assert my voice and enrich my thinking, and I hope to help those who visit the Writing Centre do the same.

I was born in Beijing and moved to Canada when I was 14. For my undergraduate degree I majored in Psychology at McGill University and went on to do a Master’s in Translation and Interpretation at the University of Bath in the UK. I did quite a bit of copy editing and writing when I was an undergraduate student and really enjoyed the experience. As a translator, I also translated a few short stories from Chinese into English, two of which were published. In recent years, I have published research articles and presented papers at international conferences. Before joining CAES, Greg was a certified lecturer of English in Taiwan for over a decade, mainly hosting training programs in the public and private sectors and teaching TESOL courses, such as second language acquisition and pedagogical grammar. Professionally, I am a Paediatric Dentist and I am currently at The University of Hong Kong for my PhD.
